Dallas Cowboys Day in Review

Let me start off by saying that I did attend last night's Monday Night Football game at Cowboys Stadium, so I can attest to this first hand. It has been a LONG time since I was embarrassed by the Dallas Cowboys as much as I was last night. Probably not since when Dallas lost to the Houston Texans in their first match-up in franchise history. I've never seen a team go out and just completely self-explode after driving the ball almost effortlessly down the field. Moving the ball wasn't the problem, even the offensive line wasn't the problem. For once it was the skill players who probably costed Dallas the game. Tony Romo threw five int's, one was probably a fumble however, two of those int's went for touchdowns. The first was when Chicago brought an all-out blitz and for some unknown reason Dez Bryant decides to run a fade when even I know, that when the defense brings the house you run a hot route probably a hook, or a slant because your quarterback doesn't have the time for anything else. The second int for a touchdown probably should have been ruled a fumble in my opinion, but regardless once again Romo get's the team in trouble for trying to do to much. He runs like he thinks he's Michael Vick, and for some reason whenever he stepped up in the pocket he moved the ball into his LEFT hand. Why would you ever do that when your surrounded by defenders as a quarterback. Don't get me wrong, I think Romo is a top ten quarterback in the league but he always gets in trouble by trying to make to much out of nothing. Second, Dez Bryant, what on earth kind of mindset were you in last night? I went from thinking you were going to have 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns one minute, to then thinking you were going to drop five or six more balls like six different times. If you just catch that ball that was right in your hands on your favorite route, a fade not surprisingly, then it's a two possession game with ten minutes left in the fourth quarter. Third, Brandon Carr, all I have been hearing about all year is "oh he is SUCH a physical cornerback, and he dominates receivers at the line of scrimmage," well Brandon....You got absolutely worked on by Brandon Marshall last night. Marshall had been somewhat quiet this year, and Cutler has been God awful. How do you let Jay "Captain Douche" Cutler come into YOUR stadium and tear you apart?

Maybe it's Rob Ryan's fault. Every time I looked down when Dallas was on defense we were rushing three or four and never bringing the heat. Half the time I swear I say Demarcus Ware in coverage. Why the hell is Ware in coverage? He played DE all his life, and has not played a lick of coverage until he came to the NFL. He's the best pass rusher probably of this decade and you have him in coverage Rob? No wonder you let Cutler tear apart your defense.

Probably the most embarrassing thing was that it was probably 60% Dallas fans, and 40% Chicago fans. I have no idea how in the world there are that many Bears fans in Dallas but they were there and I had to hear it from them ALL GAME. I was surrounded by Bears fans, talking non-stop trash to me and other Dallas fans around. After Romo threw his fifth interception probably 75% of the Dallas fans were out/leaving the stadium and that was when it got bad. Dallas set up it's fans for a total mockery of watching Bears fans celebrate, start chants, and act like Jerry World was their home field. Nothing was probably as embarrassing as that. It cut into my heart deep, because even if anybody would have tried to stand up for Dallas we were out-numbered 10-1. I guess at least we could've said "nice economy" to Chicago natives.

All I can do is hope that Dallas fixes some of these things. Dez needs to learn to catch more consistently, the offensive line needs to continue improving like last night, Claiborne can't be beat on double moves, and we need to find a permanent safety other than Sensabaugh. Dallas has two weeks to let this loss soak in, and hopefully they will come out firing all cylinders. Because I am pissed, so I know their pissed.
