As we all know the college football regular season is drawing near an end. Hell, we even have one team in the National Championship already. But, probably one of the biggest awards to the fans and players before that game is the Heisman Trophy. Usually an award that is unfortunately given to an offensive player no matter how dominate a defensive player has been. I think if there was ever a year in which a defensive player should win the MF it's this one. Now, I've hated on Notre Dame ALL YEAR long and still don't think they can hang with Bama or Georgia in the National Chamionship. However, I do think Manti Te'o could play and start for either of those teams. Below are who I think are the top Heisman candidates with no regard to losses or where their team stands.
1. Manti Te'o, Notre Dame
Not only is he on the only undefeated team in the country in division one, he's their MVP. He is tied for second in the nation in interceptions with seven and he's a linebacker. Before this year, in his previous three years at ND he had zero. He has more than 100 tackles, and has overcame outrageous struggles this season (The loss of his grandmother and girlfriend in like 48 hours). Now I know Lou Holtz probably just went from six to midnight whenever he heard I wrote this but he has one less interception than Woodson had the year he won the Heisman, and he has been much more of a leader for his team, so I don't know why you can not heavily think about giving him a first-place vote.
2. Johnny Manziel A&M
Now I talked shit all year about how I didn't think this kid was that great and what not and I still don't think he has what it takes to win a National Championship by himself like Cam Newton did, but he did take down Bama in Tuscaloosa and his numbers are outrageous. The only thing is, is that the SEC had a down year in the difference of how much talent the good teams had compared to the crappy ones (Auburn, Tennessee, Mizzou). He broke all of Newtons record though and I think he'll probably be the favorite even with voters who refuse to vote for freshman (yes, they do exist).
3. Marquise Lee USC
I know a lot of you are probably saying "Why him over Terrance Williams???" well just look at the stats asshat. Marquise Lee has over 20 more receptions that Terrance Williams this year and is behind him by 13 yards. I know you say that that means his average yards per catch is lower, well yeah, but go back and watch every Baylor game this year and look at how many times Lee runs a hitch, or a slant. How many times do you see T-Will run a go? Probably five to six times a game which I mean if he catches it more power to him. But the Baylor offense is much more spread out than that of USC's. Oh, Lee also has two more touchdowns thus far as well. I do think both are NFL ready though.

By Far the Best Weekend of this Fall
I've been extremely busy these last few weeks tailgating my ass off before I graduate, so I please apologize for the lack of posts.
It finally happened everyone. LSU, Baylor, and the Cowboys all won on the same weekend thus saving me from having to jump from the top of Jerry World. Let me start with one of the teams that I owe a keg to after defeating the number one team Kansas State. Baylor played almost perfect. The only thing that wasn't was Florence's two picks which still are over shadowed by Klein's three. To be honest I didn't think Baylor was going to be able to produce the Floyd Casey Voodoo once again. I watched the game from my cousins boyfriends couch in Baton Rouge and found me and my friend who is currently enrolled at Baylor popping champagne and breaking glass bottles after Lache Seastrunk made what might be the biggest play in his career taking that run 80 yards for a touchdown. This game not only took out K-State, but it also makes Baylor almost bowl eligible. With a win this weekend against Texas Tech the Bear's will clinch a bowl for the third year in a row.
The other team I owe a keg to is Stanford who finally proved to every one else who was oblivious that Oregon and the Pac-12 just really aren't that good. Stanford is a mediocre team overall with an above average defense, which just so happened to be the first one Oregon had faced this year. Barner looked mediocre and so did Thomas. If there was any surprise it was that somehow Oregon had 400 total yards and only 14 points. But thats what good defense's do. They bend and don't break in their own side of the 50.
LSU also made my trip to Baton Rouge this past weekend a little more pleasant actually winning a game. I was worried for awhile but LSU's D played terrible and Mettenberger went back to only caring about #ThrowsNHoes. I actually was about to decide to drink myself to where I would just let the night take me wherever she wanted and then Odell Beckham decided I was better off avoiding a night that would have resulted in being stabbed by a homeless guy and decided to have one of the better special teams plays we've seen this year in college football.
Then the icing on the cake. It wasn't pretty.....but the Cowboys took care of business against the Browns yesterday winning 23-20 in overtime. Dez Bryant played lights out and almost carried my fantasy team to a much needed win, i'll take the Boys win over a fantasy one any day though. Bruce Carter in my opinion is still playing out of his mind. Whenever Lee is back next year we might just have the best set of linebackers in the NFL if we keep Anthony Spencer who is about to earn every bit of a big contract from Dallas.
In other notes....Alabama who is the best team in the country is back in the National Championship. I actually almost want Notre Dame to defeat the Barkleyless USC team this week just to watch Bama run away with a national title. Matt Ryan throws five picks like a infant who accidentally picks up your xbox controller whenever your playing Madden 13, Andrew Luck finally got brought back down to Earth yesterday by Tom Brady, Chad "The Surgeon" Henne finally claimed the starting job for the Jags.

DFW Sports Review
Well everyone, it's our favorite time of year, that's right, you guessed it! NBA regular season! Now, if you believe in my previous statement you must have zero life and must enjoy watching zero effort being displayed in what we call a professional game. However, I decided to make a point about the Dallas Mavericks today. Before this season started everyone was saying the Mav's would be lucky to get into the playoffs. "Oh, we missed out on D-Will! There's no chance we'll ever be good again!" Now, before I say this listen to me. I'm not saying were going to make the playoffs, but from what I've seen in the stat sheet and from the game against the Raptors the other night, the Mav's look for real. O.J. Mayo has been playing out of his mind thus far this season. And don't look now, but the Mav's are 4-1 and tied with the lead of their division with the somehow non-aging San Antonio Spurs. I swear to God, it really does seem like Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili (Is Najera around?) have been in this league since I was an infant, and they only seem to get better the closer they get to forty. I don't think the Mav's will keep up this pace, but Kaman has looked good, Mayo has looked good, and so had Jae "Make It Rain" Crowder, and we don't even have Dirk yet. So I think we should keep on eye on this team throughout the season, because if we make the playoffs then we'll be a dangerous team to play in my opinion if we can stay healthy.
In Ranger's news, if you haven't heard yet then get ready for probably the biggest news in DFW sports this week. The Ranger's have told USA Today Sports that their max length of a contract with Josh Hamilton is three years. I can hear all the women starting to cry as I wrote that last sentence. Personally, I think three years is all he deserves. He's done nothing but choke in the playoffs and get plastered at local bars since he's been here. He's blamed poor play on God's decision for HIM to stop dipping. To be honest I don't want him back. He doesn't want to be here in my opinion and I'm happy to let him go. We'll probably offer him three years and around fifteen million a year which I think is fair due to the hazards of his personality, and his body. But, even with that we won't get him here. Some bullshit team like the BoSox are going to offer him seven years and over $100 mil, just wait. He'll go up there have mediocre years for a mediocre team and never win a ring. So do whatever you want Josh, don't worry man, we didn't give you you're last chance or anything in the sport.
Call me crazy here, but I think the Cowboys could possibly still make the playoffs. seven out of their next eight games are against teams that are below .500. The Eagles twice, the Redskins twice, the Saints, and then Cleveland and Cincinnati. Can anyone honestly tell me that any of those games aren't possible to be won? RG3 is struggling as of late, Vick can't hold onto the ball or stay in the pocket for more than two seconds, Weeden is already taking social security, and soulless ginger is going to be on the field. I'm not going to mention the Saint's because I think their starting to right the ship and I would see that as a VERY tough game for the Cowboys to win. The other game is against the Steelers who have looked very suspect thus far this season in the run game. I think every game on the schedule in winnable for Dallas. If you win six, then you're 9-7 and have a great shot for a wild card spot and that was good enough to win the division last year even. The Cowboys have the number four overall defense and the number four pass defense in the league, so I'm confident that if Romo starts actually playing like were they ones paying him not the other team then there's a real shot to salvage this season.
In Dallas Stars news...........to soon? Get a deal done NHL, I need something actually competitive to watch this spring.

College Football Week in Review
This weekend was full of huge letdowns if you're anywhere the same kind of an as I am. Notre Dame won a game they shouldn't of won and now we have to hear Lou Holtz almost have a heart attack everytime he talks because the small amount of blood he has left goes to his boner he has whenever he mentions Manti Te'o. Alabama stayed undefeated playing a VERY close game with LSU which I said would go down to the wire and it didn't disappoint. I also think our Heisman winner came from that game with A.J. McCarron. That drive he led to win that game is only one that a real championship quarterback can lead against a team like LSU. Oregon absolutely obliterated the already terrible USC defense. When I heard Barner had 300+ rushing yards I honestly wasn't surprised. I think Oregon and Alabama is the title game everybody wants to see now. We all just have to pray the extremely overrated ND team gets taken down by Matt "The Chosen One" Barkley and the rest of the Trojans. Good to see Baylor finally get the first conference win, wish it would have been against an actual Big 12 worthy opponent though. A Charlie Weiss coached team could be beaten by the great Dillon Panthers and I have no doubt Coach Taylor out coaches Weiss.
Onto another topic, Johnny Manziel also had a great game, possibly shutting my mouth for the rest of the season. He still doesn't have the big win yet so I'm not real sure how great he is but he has plenty of time to prove me wrong. This June however, the infamous Johnny Manziel was arrested for being in a fight and producing a fake ID. I know being in a fight isn't a big thing, even though Jordan Jefferson missed a few games for the same thing and this kid gets to start for his team. I just want to know what kind of program Sumlin is running, and what kind of model player he's creating when he lets a kid get arrested for at least three misdemeanors in one night (He had two fake I.D.'s) and then give him the starting job? Is the next quarterback going to think he can do the same thing? Also, I don't blame him for actually having the fake I.D.'s who didn't whenever they were nineteen, I know I did. But hey, if you're going to do something illegal don't get caught Manziel. Regardless, everybody needs to keep an eye on this chode. I don't like him, but it's usually people who have success (Even though he hasn't beat a team worth bragging about) that we don't like. He has over 2,500 passing yards and over 900 rushing yards, and is creeping up on the Cam Newton's total offense SEC record of 4,327 yards. But Johnny, let me tell you this. You're impersonation of the "The Superman" Cam Newton celebration Saturday is pure brattiness. You cannot mimic a real Heisman and National Championship winner until you actually win both. The thing is, he might actually receive an invitation to the Heisman ceremony, but Braxton Miller has a better shot of winning that thing than him and he has almost a 1,000 less passing yards than him. Why? Because B-Mill is on an undefeated team. He hasn't slipped up. I know they play in the God forsaken Big 10 but ESPN and the voters LOVE Ohio State. So I would honestly be surprised if he is even invited. Manziel has one more opportunity to prove to me that he can win a big game. Unfortunately for him, it's against the top team in the country, defending national champs, and against the number one defense in the country. Oh, did I mention it's at Bryant-Denny Stadium too? Yeah, LSU held Manziel to less than thirty rushing yards, I am expecting Bama to do the same. Except, Bama has an actual offense, unlike LSU (Well LSU has one now apparently). So I think it will be a blowout, but there's that little bit of hope inside me that says maybe if there's one guy who could do it single handedly it's him. But don't get your hopes up.
Sorry, I can't bring myself to talk about the Cowboys (America's Team) until they win a game again.

Dez Bryant: The Myth
Surely by now we all know what to expect come Sunday from Dez Bryant. That is about seven or eight catches for a hundred or so yards with zero touchdowns, and five dropped passes. We still rely on this guy to be our biggest playmaker at wide receiver for this team, and to be honest I love Dez. But I'm sick and tired of having to wonder which Dez is going to show up. He is SO inconsistent. This is year three and he got his first 100 yard game THIS year. How can you call him one of the most talented receivers in the league when it took him more than two full years in this league to achieve a 100 yard receiving game?
The worst thing about this kid, is that he'll make a play that will have you chanting his name and then ten minutes later he'll drop a pass that really matters and makes his previous play irrelevant. We need a guy who can make every play whenever he's called on. On ESPN Dallas Tim Macmahon wrote a piece about how Dez thinks this is the year where he is going to break out. He's had by far the his most successful season thus far, as of now if we estimate his numbers he is going to rack up about ninety-four catches and around 1,115 yards. Thats what he considers "breaking out"? I want Calvin Johnson like numbers from this guy and I think he's capable. They both have the same kind of athletic ability and Dez should be at least somewhere near this guy with all of the swag he appears to have on the field.
However, I think the Cowboys should've traded Dez this off-season. He hasn't made a game changing play to date in his career. He made the touchdown against the Ravens and then dropped the two-point conversion so it didn't matter, he made the catch Sunday against the Giant's but was out of bounds. If we would have traded him this past off-season I think it would've been EASY for Dallas to have gotten a second round draft pick for him. If we let him walk then we wouldn't have to worry if one of our supposed "best" players is going to hit his mom, get arrested in a mall for sagging his pants, or rack up a $100,000 jewelry store tab. All that I know is, is that if he wants to stay in Dallas, he needs to pick it up. His on-the-field production I don't think is enough to get him the contract he's going to want, and even if it was up to par, his off-the-field mental capabilities would drag his contract down due to the fact that we don't know if this kid is going to light a Ruth's Chris on fire for making his medium steak a little too medium-rare.
However, I do hope he breaks out. I think he has the talent to do so, mental capabilities.....maybe not. But, I can hope and I will hope that he continues to put up career numbers this season, because the Cowboys need someone like him. Like really bad.
